BGAI was excited to be asked by the City of Sarnia to re-design Avondale Park to celebrate its adoption by the Sarnia Lambton Native Friendship Centre. The park design includes two meeting areas to host First Nations cultural events and activities; additional walkways for its users with opportunity for future lighting; and site furniture. One of the meeting areas was designed to include the Medicine Wheel with coloured sphere bollards in the cardinal directions.  The design also incorporates the Seven Grandfather Teachings etched in the paving stones.

Avondale Park aims to be a dedicated, inclusive environment where the community can engage in cultural, educational, and recreational activities. This park serves as a testament to the rich heritage and traditions of the Aamjiwnaang First Nations people, providing a space for cultural expression, intergenerational learning, and communal bonding within downtown Sarnia.

BGAI managed the construction administration of the first phase of this project which included the pathways and meeting areas. This park continues to serve its community as a space for people to meet and enjoy within the city.
